Spider-Man Far From Home is not only the highest grossing Spider-Man film of all time but it is also well on its way to joining the MCU Billion Dollar Club. The two Tom Holland-led Spider-Man films truly capture the essence of teenage Peter Parker and the idea that "With great power, there must also come great responsibility." One of the elements that help cement these films as the best live action Spider-Man films is the score. Composer Michael Giacchino is known for his great scores in films like Star Trek, Bad Times at the El Royale, Doctor Strange and both MCU Spider-Man films. Giacchino's scores always connect at the emotional core of the characters on screen even at their smallest, most subtle moments.
Giacchino attended this year's San Diego Comic-Con and participated in the 7th Annual Musical Anatomy of a Superhero panel. We got to talk to him for a little bit after about how he goes about scoring superhero films and other genres and why connecting with the core of the character of Peter Parker is so important to scoring Spider-Man.
